About Us

Bailey Woodworking

Since childhood Keith Bailey has been working with wood. His early years found him in the woods of southern Illinois helping his lumberjack father fell trees.

After high school Keith pursued and obtained a degree in engineering. This degree would serve him well through the years as he built a sawmill for processing the trees and later designed many of the machines used for the manufacture of rocking chair parts.

Keith Bailey knows wood and has taught his employees the art of forming that wood into beautiful furniture.

Our Approach

Quality is our first concern. We want to build a product that can become an heirloom.

That’s why our motto has been “Building for Keeps.”

Our Process

We cut the lumber, we dry our own lumber and process it in our own sawmill.

It then goes to our factory to be planed to the correct thickness for each specific part of the rocker.

Then our cutter cuts each piece with precision, including the arms of the rockers, all cut out free handed. These pieces are then all sanded piece by piece.

The assembly then begins and is completely constructed before leaving our plant. There is minor assembly that involves you attaching the rockers already with predrilled holes, nails and instructions due to shipping.

Unique Framework

Our people and their abilities make us unique.

Keith Bailey, the owner has always had a love for wood. He has employed people who have recognized the beauty of wood and what can be created through learning a skill of working with the raw material.

Our main chair builder has worked from the beginning and understands the sensitivity of wood, what to look for that could compromise the product or what can make it a unique piece utilizing the mixture of grains when building each individual piece.

Our main cutter who has worked here for 20 years is known for her ability to see a piece of wood and match it with another piece to create 2 chair arms that immediately will create a chair with individuality. Each arm she cuts is cut free handed. She takes great pride in her work.

We have youngsters of employees that have grown up in the business that began to gain a knowledge of what it took to build a quality product, even contributing to getting the products out, and now are seasonal employees after school.

We are happy that we can continue to operate as a small, family owned and operated business here in the USA giving you the quality of a product that lasts.
